About Us

My name is Roque Tenorio, and I grew up on a ranch in Southern California on the Sierra Pelona Mountain range, at the edge of Ritter Ranch Park. I've been shaped by a co-mingling of many different cultures. My father is Chinese and Colombian, and my mother’s lineage includes the Pueblo and Spanish settlers, as well as the Plains Tribes of the Blackfoot and Lakota.

I also have deep roots in the Southwest. I spent many summers with my grandfather and grandmother on their ranch in Pintada, New Mexico enchanted by the beauty of its valleys, its arroyo, and its vastness. They taught me many lessons on how to respect wildlife and to love the land. I have many fond memories of looking for arrowheads and pottery sherds echoing from times past.

Our company is named No.1927 after my grandfather and grandmother’s cattle brand, which features a rafter above the number 27. They were ‘The House of 27’, both born in the same year. Each design I smith is a homage to them. I will always remember them and all the lessons they taught me.
